Shake it baby, shake it!

Some of our children have been making ice creams in the sandpit so we decided to make some real ice cream that we could all enjoy.

The children measured out the ingredients into a small plastic bag. This was then put into a larger bag which had ice and salt in it. Then they had to shake it, and shake it, and shake it! The children had to really persist because it took ages!
While we were shaking we talked about what was happening inside the bags, why we had to add salt to the ice, and what we thought the finished product would taste like.

After lots of shaking the milk thickened into ice cream. It was enjoyed by all.

The ice cream looks delicious! Tayla loves playing ice cream shops in the sand pit and was super excited to make real ice cream.
